1976-2006; 30 YEARS OF COMPANY SUCCESS

Combined Insurance, one of the country’s foremost providers of supplemental accident and healthcare insurance, celebrates 30 years of successful business in Ireland.

John P Hughes, General Manager of Combined Insurance in Ireland has been with Combined for all of those 30 years. In fact, it was John Hughes who made the first sale for the company in April 1976. “As a Company, we have come a long way from April ’76 when I had the pleasure of making that first sale in Ireland. It seems like only yesterday when I made my first call in South George’s Street in Dublin, and proceeded to work the adjoining streets, Fade Street, Exchequer Street, Aunger Street, etc. At that time our company was completely unknown in Ireland. We had no business, no premium, no claims, no office and no telephone. We have come a long way since then”, Hughes remembers.

Today Combined Insurance in Ireland have over 600 sales people, a head office staff of 50, an annual business premium of €80 million, over  186,000 customers and have paid out over €20 million in claims in 2005. For the past 10 years, the Irish operation has been the No #1 Company in the Combined world. As a further indication of the success and personal development of Combined Insurance in Ireland, they are now the “supplier” of senior executives to head up countries throughout the Combined world. Waterford native Tom Butler has moved to Spain as National Sales Manager to launch Combined Insurance in Spain and Ger Noonan from Limerick, is now General Manager of Germany.

To celebrate this great achievement, 3 decades of growth and development in Ireland, a Gala Dinner was held in Marriott’s Druids Glen Hotel in Wicklow, November 2006. All of Combined Insurance’s top executives, including John P Hughes and Clive Robinson, Managing Director were in attendance to thank a loyal workforce for all their contribution over the years.
