State benefits
Could you rely on State Benefits alone?
Your two most valuable assets are probably your health and your ability to work and earn a living. If you were to suffer accidental injury or illness, your income may decrease or stop, depending on your individual sick pay arrangements.
However, you will still need to meet certain financial obligations including the means to pay for food, transportation, clothing, mortgage or rent and other living expenses as well as the things you may do for fun. When you are sick, who will pay the bills?
Did you know that...
-
Over 550,000 people are admitted to publicly funded acute hospitals every year.1
-
In one year, over 54,000 people were hospitalised as a result of an accident with 73 fatal accidents reported occurring in the workplace. 2
-
In one year there were approximately 8,241 casualties from road traffic accidents with over 370 being fatal. 3
-
Over 20,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed each year and is the cause of a quarter of all deaths. 4
If you were to suffer an accidental injury or illness that meant that you had to rely on State Benefits alone, you could expect to receive statutory sick pay of up to €185.80 per week, the equivalent of just €9,661.60 per year.5
Combined provides a range of insurance plans that can pay either a lump sum or monthly benefit to assist you with the expenses associated with accidental injury or illness.
